I read this book as well and really enjoyed it. I do have to report that Rossman is not the most fluid or poetic authors, but the story is strong enough to overcome the shortcoming. I found Dagg's life lessons to be my life lessons and his adventures through the worlds seemed to parallel many of my life experiences in modern life (without the fantastical aspects of course). I've blindly and persistently pursued “goals" that turned out to be fool hearty and in turn created a negative ripple effect in my world, to a lesser extent than in the story, but life altering all the same. Having an affinity for dragons, Dagg's desire to meet one was my draw to the book at first. After reading it I have to say it actually taught me something, and I believe that "something" would be different for everyone. A great story!

Completed the book. Slow read, but some good tales. I see many cross overs with names of trolls in Tolkien books as in the Dragon Seeker. In addition I see some common European fairly tales showing up here in a bit different form, such as Snow White. I actually thought th last little comments, or chapter on American Trolls and how it addressed how Americans wouldn't accept unpleasant ugly trolls was rather clever and a good comment on Americans.

I just finished the book and enjoyed it. Was a quick read. My grandparents pioneered in North Dakota so kept thinking of them and their many hardships as I was reading the novel.

I finished this book!!!! It was a difficult read for me. There is lots of reference to what must be iconic references from Norwegian folklore. So I need to read some other items to get osme of this. I like the idea of the button caster taking basiaclly your soul and recasting it.

Also since reading this and participating in the music class I better appreciate what Grieg tried to do with the Peer Gynt Suite

I look forward to having something constructive to say on this blog. Currently the only associated book I have is the Trolls of Norway book I borrowed from Nancy. I will be sure to comment on it when I'm done. So far, it's quite entertaining.!!
